This is how my workbench looks like as of Nov 10th 2007. Just collected many more colors and inks and new sculpting tools too. Here’s a tour, from left to right.

Da Ork Boyz!

This is one hard miniature to setup. it had a ton of imperfections and I spent a week trying to pin it, remove excess metal etc… even had to use putty to complete it. in the end I used black base and a lot of metallics to hide the mess.

This is my first attempt at using lighting effects in this model. The front light shines over the rolled up tent and on the mudguard. What do you think?

Zoat Mage

I believe this is called a Zoat Mage. Some obscure lizard-centaur-ogre combination race that Games Workshop discontinued.

I found this miniature that a friend of mine painted 10 years ago which was pretty bad. I stripped the paint off and tried to replicate the same color scheme but with “hopefully” better painting. And this is my first attempt and trying to simulate chrome using NMM techniques.

UW Husky Cheerleader

ok, did this in like 3 hours. I think my worst miniature of late. Didn’t have the patience to do better. And I really need to learn how to paint the skin properly. I need a guide. anyone has a video / blog up about painting skin?

Seahawks Cheerleader

This mini was originally an Elf BloodBowl Cheerleader but I decided to paint her this way to pay homage to my ”home” team here in Seattle, as a Seahawks Cheerleader or SeaGal. I believe this is either the 2006 uniform or one that they wear in cold weather, coz the 2007 uniform is a white sexy number. I’m not sure. Any Seahawks fan can tell me if I got the colors right?

Khorne Cavalry

ok after this miniature, I swear I’m gonna give red a break. Horse was nice to paint, the rider model is a little.. boring. so had to focus a little bit more on the shield.

Champion of Khorne

This is one of the funnest miniature I got to paint. Perhaps the Khorne Red/Gold/Black colors is easy to work with. Love to paint flames or embers. This is the first time I had to shade a miniature the other way round where the light colors are inside and the dark colors on the out. Checkout the sword.

Elminster

Think this is the worst model I’ve ever had to paint. The definition is bad, forcing me to do all kinds of weird things to get the color in it’s right place. The eyes and the cloak were the most problematic.

 

Eldar Swooping Hawk Exarch

Finally! Took me 3 nights to get this done. Had a lot of problems with the base and how the model is assembled. The Wing dropped twice when I was painting it and the foot broke from the base, requiring me to reglue it back on after filing the foot a little. Think I did that 5 times. *ugh*

The Swooping Hawks are a highly mobile aspect, representing the birds of prey from ancient Eldar legends. They wear complex sets of wings which allow them to enter the battlefield at critical points and lend firepower support. Like the Banshees, the Hawks sacrifice durability for greater mobility. Their lasblasters make them excellent harassment units against light infantry (such as Imperial Guard or Orks). Also of note, they wield cleverly designed grenade launchers on their legs, which allow them to bomb enemy units as they fly into the battle. The swooping hawks are also equipped with haywire grenades which are very effective at disabling any vehicle making swooping hawks a great anti-armour choice as well. The Phoenix Lord of the Swooping Hawks is known as Baharroth, The Cry of the Wind.

Ok. some might say that I went overboard with the Gemstone effect but I love painting them.

Sorceress

Ok another one done in a day. I still can’t get my blending right. It’s so flaky. I think I need to use wet blending technique which requires the paint to be kept wet. The dry air here in the US is not good for blending. I remember not having problems like this in Malaysia. Guess the air is humid there.

 So here we go, pastel color scheme.
